Melrose Rugby are delighted to announce two players who will form part of the Southern Knights team in the Super6 competition which commences in November.

Jacob Henry and Nathan Sweeney are two stage 3 players in Scottish Rugby's Fosroc Academy.

Jacob is a product of Ross Sutherland and Highland rugby clubs and the Scotland U17 cap was fortunate to be awarded a place on the Macphail Scholarship to Stellenbosch University in South Africa earlier this year. He said: "I'm really excited to be part of this team which will help me develop both on and off the field"

Nathan, a Scotland U17 and U18 cap, developed his rugby at Loretto school and Musselburgh RFC. He said: "I’m really excited to be apart of the Southern Knights this season. It's a real opportunity for me to develop and learn from all the players and coaches as I make the transition from age grade rugby into the Super6 environment. I can't wait to get started!"

Being part of the Fosroc Academy means that when the duo are not selected for the Southern Knights they will be made available for Tennent's Premiership teams. Jacob Henry is allocated to Selkirk, head coach Scott Wight said: "I'm really looking forward to working with Jacob, it's great to have him on board!"

Nathan Sweeney will play with Mussleburgh, their head coach Greame Paterson said: "I’m sure the partnership between Scottish Rugby, Southern Knights and Musselburgh RFC will be a real positive for Nathan’s development as a player and we are looking forward to strengthening the relationship between us and Southern Knights so his development continues throughout the coming season."

Congratulations to both boys on their selections!
