McANDREW, KNOTT AND IRVINE-HESS ARE KNIGHTS
Melrose Rugby Club is delighted to announce three more Scottish-born talents who will play for the Southern Knights.
The trio of Murdo McAndrew, Ruaridh Knott and Neil Irvine-Hess have played for Melrose for a number of seasons and will now make the step into the semi-professional ranks.
Murdo McAndrew, a scrum half, started playing rugby at Howe of Fife. He furthered his rugby career at Strathallan School before moving to France to play in Clermont Auvernge’s senior academy. Murdo, a Scotland U18, U20 and Club XV cap, made his 1XV appearance for Melrose in 2014 and has played over 100 games for the club.
Ruaridh Knott started his rugby at Highland RFC in Inverness before making a move south to Loretto where he went to school. Upon finishing school, the Scotland U20’s cap played for Melrose Storm and made his 1XV debut for the club in 2013.
Back-Row Neil Irvine-Hess won the Scottish Schools U18 cup with George Watson’s College in 2013. The Scotland age-grade cap had a short senior spell with Watsonians before making the move to play for Melrose in 2014.
Congratulations to the boys on their addition to the squad!
