Youth Information Handbook

2025/26

Youth Membership

  • If you are new to Melrose Rugby, you get 4 weeks to try before you need to be a member.

Once your 4 week trial has completed; all players must have a membership in place, if they do not; they are not insured and therefore will not be allowed to train or play.

You can purchase this through the membership section (https://www.melroserugby.org/membership).

Here at Melrose Rugby we do not think that financial situation should stand in the way of kids being able to play rugby so if there are any reasons that you are unable to pay, please email youth@melroserugby.org and we can discuss options available for players payments.

  • First and foremost; the main purpose of membership is to ensure your child is insured to play and train.

Secondly; your membership goes towards the running of Melrose Rugby youth section. Without your membership; we would be unable to pay for pitch hire, bibs, balls, tackle bags, transport, etc...

Finally, as a member you are entitled to Melrose Rugby shorts and socks each season (Hornets members also are loaned a top for the duration of the season; these must be handed back at the end of the season).

  • All parents/guardians of Melrose Rugby youth members are expected to volunteer at least 1 hour per season.

When taking out the childs membership you will be asked your volunteering preference (e.g. Match Day Tuck Shop, Hornets Cafe, Kit Shop, etc…).

The volunteer coordinator at each event will let you know, with notice, the volunteering shift you are expected to perform. If you are unable to do the shift assigned to you it is your responsibility to swap this shift with someone else.

  • If you are already paying for a Wasp, Queen Bee or Hornet membership and you, as parent, want to also take out a membership; you are entitled to a discount of £50 off the normal adult membership cost.

Once you sign up your child; you will receive a discount code which will entitle you to £50 off.

You can purchase this through the website (https://www.melroserugby.org/membership).

This is a full adult membership and gives you all the benefits of an Adult membership including free access to all Home Games.

  • There is the option to pay monthly.

Please note: This is a payment plan not a monthly subscription. If you choose to take out your membership in the middle of the season you may find you need to pay 2 payments at the start of the next season (as you will be paying the end of 1 season and the start of another).

Your membership is not refundable. If you choose to leave the club mid season you are not entitled to a refund of the second half of the season. This also means if you are paying monthly you are expected to continue paying the membership fee even if you choose to leave the club.

  • Your membership does not auto renew.

At the start of each season you need to take out a new membership.

  • Academy fees and Melrose Rugby Membership fees are not the same thing. If your child is age to join the Melrose Breadalbane Rugby Academy this is a separate payment alongside your child’s membership payment.

The Academy payment is available here https://www.melroserugby.org/melrose-rugby-academy
