Melrose Sevens 2026 Dates Announced

The Home of Sevens Returns 22nd–23rd May

Melrose Rugby has confirmed that the 2026 Melrose Sevens will take place on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd May 2026, with planning already underway to deliver another exceptional weekend at the home of Rugby Sevens.

Founded in Melrose in 1883, Rugby Sevens has grown into a global sporting phenomenon - but there remains nothing quite like seeing it played where it all began. The 2026 tournament will continue to celebrate that heritage while looking to the future, blending world-class rugby with the vibrant community atmosphere that makes the Greenyards so special.

As the home of Rugby Sevens, Melrose remains deeply rooted in the sport’s history - continuing to inspire and connect rugby communities worldwide. The 2026 event will once again welcome topdomestic and international sides from both the men’s and women’s game, alongside celebrating thenext generation of youth rugby players, reflecting the club’s commitment to inclusivity and the future of the game.

Off the pitch, visitors can look forward to an expanded Family Food Village showcasing local traders and entertainment throughout the weekend, as well as revised ticket offerings designed tomake the event more accessible and enjoyable for all.

We’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone back to the Greenyards for another great
weekend of rugby. Melrose Sevens is a chance to celebrate everything that makes club rugby so
special -the players, the supporters, and the atmosphere. It’s always a highlight of the year, and
2026 will be no different
— George Runciman, President of Melrose Rugby

Melrose Sevens 2026 will honour the club’s pioneering history while building for the future - celebrating what makes Melrose the true heart of Sevens.
