Coaches Information

At Melrose Rugby, we strive to create a fun learning environment that our players, coaches and parents love being part of.

We have big plans on where we want to be in three years’ time and along the way we want to develop our own playing brand & identity from top to bottom to be unique to Melrose Rugby, create highly skilled players through our emphasis on game intelligence and positive environments and of course highly knowledgeable, empathetic and motivated coaches through our robust Coach Development Programme.

  • At Melrose Rugby we offer a Coaches membership which offers all the benefits of a Full Adult Membership at a generous £50 per season (thats a saving of £100!).

  • As a Coach Member of Melrose Rugby as well as having access to all the benefits of a Full Adult Member, you are able to order any Melrose Branded kit at cost price!

    Just head over to the Border Embroideries Melrose Rugby Kit Shop (https://www.melroserugby.org/club-shop) and select what you want, then email the name(s) of the items, the size, any customisations you require (e.g. colours, initials, etc...) office@melroserugby.org.

    We will then get a price from Border Embroideries, send that over to you, you can then call into the office to make payment and we will order.

    Please be aware it can be between 1 to 2 months for delivery.

    Also, as these items have the Melrose Logo they are considered ‘customised’ therefore are not returnable so please make sure you order the correct size.

  • To help out with coaching (either as a parent helper, coach or lead coach) you are required to have a PVG in place with Melrose Rugby.

    This is a straightforward process carried out through Scottish Rugby and Disclosure Scotland, not only for the safety of our youth members but also to protect our volunteers. All you need to do to get started is to email cpo@melroserugby.org to request to join the PVG Scheme, copying in one of the existing coaches. This is a requirement even if you are already a member of the scheme for another club, sport or job.

    Note: It is the responsibility of the Lead Coach in each year group to ensure that all parents and coaches that help at training or matches have a PVG in place with Melrose Rugby. If you are helping as a one off due to a lack of coaches you do not need a PVG.

    However, if you are helping/coaching more than 3 times you will need to contact the Child Protection Officers on the above email address.

  • As a coach you may need to order equipment (Bibs, Balls, Tackle Bags, etc...). You can do this by emailing youthkit@melroserugby.org with the items you wish to order.

    These requests are taken to the next Youth Board for approval then (if approved) ordered, again these can take up to 6 weeks for delivery.
