Earlston High School
Earlston High School and Melrose Rugby Club have a close and collaborative relationship that plays a key role in developing youth rugby in the Borders. Training and matches for both the boys' and girls' teams take place across the school grounds and Melrose’s Greenyards pitch, with coaches working seamlessly across both environments to support players’ development.
At the high school level, all male pupils represent Melrose Wasps, which also acts as the official Earlston High School rugby team. Similarly, all female players become part of the Melrose Queen Bees squad. This joint approach not only strengthens the playing pathway between school and club but also helps build a strong sense of identity and community among young players.
The partnership is underpinned by shared values, including a commitment to nurturing talent, growing the girls’ game, and building confidence, teamwork, and community spirit through sport. While there are currently no formal joint initiatives or transition events, both the school and the club recognise this as an exciting area for future collaboration, with the aim of further strengthening the pathway and experience for young rugby players in the region.
