Last Week's Rugby
It was a BIG day here at the club on Saturday - the pitch was in use from 9am (football) then 4 games of rugby! We had our annual farmers day which seemed to go down well, a great meal and entertainment from Nigel Brown kept everyone in top form!
It was like Piccadilly Circus in the changing rooms, with 8 teams in and out! We had visitors from Boroughmuir, Kelso, Alnwick & Hawick - the first three games Melrose took the win,
U16 Wasps v Boroughmuir - 26 : 17 click HERE for photos
U18 Wasps v Kelso Quins - 45 : 17
Storm v Alnwick - 43 : 32
Unfortunately the 1XV fell to Hawick in a pretty close 22 - 26 loss.
We had some notable player news in this game, it was Donald Crawford's 100th game for the club - he played his first senior game 14 years ago back in 2012!! Congratulations Donald! You can watch a wee interview with the man himself by clicking HERE .
At the other end of the spectrum Jaxson Douglas made his debut for the 1XV - so a big week for Jaxson, Melrose on Saturday, Edinburgh U18s on Thursday!
Make sure to head to our Facebook page to catch up with all the interviews and photos from the weekend!

Elise does Doddie Aid!
For the last month or so, Elise Ross has been 'rowing' the Tweed from it's source ending in Berwick, where she is going to get in the water and actually row a boat not a rowing machine!! It's a massive challenge for anyone let alone a lady with a new knee, who, as she's reminded me, is not far off 80!! If you'd like to support Elise please click on the button, and to see her in action CLICK HERE!
U17s District Rugby
Many congratulations to our 3 players who took part in the U17s District tournament at the Oriam on Saturday - Well done to Stuart Newton, Isaac Murphy & Harris Redmayne!
The Storm...
What a successful season The Storm has had! Infact it's been so good, they've won the Border Junior League Trophy - it's a back to back win for the boys! Now onwards to see if we can retain the Junior League Cup! Well done to the players, coaches, management and support staff - you've put in a lot of hard work and it's great to see the results!
Melrose 7s Hall of Fame Panel
As part of our preparations for Melrose Sevens 2026, we’re pleased to confirm the Hall of Fame Selection Panel; a group brought together for their deep connection to Melrose, Sevens rugby, and the wider game.
This panel reflects the history, standards and values of the world’s oldest club rugby sevens tournament, and will oversee the selection of future Hall of Fame inductees, with additional panel members to be confirmed.
The 2026 Hall of Fame Selection Panel includes:
Graeme Dodds – Melrose Sevens Steering Group Ambassador & former Melrose Sevens Winner
Sir Gordon Tietjens – Hall of Fame inductee and one of the most influential figures in the history of international Sevens
George Runciman – Club President and former Melrose captain
Lisa Thomson – Current Scotland international & GB Sevens player, former Melrose Ladies player
Rob Moffat – Club Director of Rugby & Vice President, former Scotland 7s Head Coach
Ian Cooper – Former Melrose Sevens Convenor
Scott Wight – Melrose 1st XV Head Coach, World Sevens Series winner with Scotland
Mark Robertson – Olympic silver medallist with Team GB Sevens (Rio 2016)
Together, this group brings unmatched Sevens experience, respect for the tournament’s heritage, and a clear understanding of what it means to be recognised at Melrose.
Further updates on the Hall of Fame, including inductee announcements, will follow soon!
Well it's been a rather massive bulletin this week, so congratulations if you've got to the end!!
Have a great week and enjoy the Calcutta Cup on Saturday - you might even get some blue sky & sunshine at Murrayfield!!
Very best wishes
Hilary
