GHK v Melrose

GHK 17 | MELROSE 32

SATURDAY 11TH NOVEMBER | ANNIESLAND

Saturday’s National 1 match, preceded by a Minute’s Silence for Remembrance Day, was played, initially, in bright sunshine, but with a chilly breeze. GHK started the match with a period of pressure, but failed to take scoring benefit from a series of scrum penalties. Eventually, at 13 minutes, they fumbled the ball with Melrose breaking out and racing to the other end where Harry Makowski scored. Struan Hutchison converted then kicked a penalty twelve minutes later. Donald Crawford increased the Melrose lead with an unconverted try, out wide, with four more minutes on the clock. At 33 minutes Charlie Greaves put GHK on the score-sheet with a long-range penalty then, just on the break Hugh Parker broke from the base of a scrum passing to Callum Moglia whose try was converted by Greaves.

Half time – GHK 10 Melrose 15

Hutchison increased the Melrose lead with a penalty at 49 minutes and, after an excellent passing move at 62 minutes Crawford scored his second try which Hutchison converted. More passing from the kick-off saw Craig Fairbairn score the Melrose bonus point try with Hutchison, again, converting. With eleven minutes until no-side Angus Cooper scored a try which Calum Busby converted.
