YOUR MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS

When you joined up this year you were offered a membership benefit which was either, free match day hospitality or a free ground ticket to next year’s 7s. We will start sending out the 7s tickets from this week, it may take a couple of weeks to get them out to everyone so your patience would be greatly appreciated. If you haven’t received your ticket by December 1st just drop a line to rugby@melroserugby.org and we’ll get you sorted out. If you didn’t note a preference or can’t remember what you put down, please email office@melroserugby.org and we will fill you in!

Doddie 88

You might remember back in March we had a team of cyclists visit the club – this was the Scottish Schools Rugby Squad who toured New Zealand back in 1988. They were aiming to raise an almighty £88,000 for the MyName’5Doddie Foundation. Well, Richard Brown who was a member of the touring squad, has let us know that they have reached their target! Just brilliant – well done to all the crew (a few members in the peloton are Melrose members!) To read more about it follow the link to the MyName’5 Doddie site

Upcoming Events

The end of the year is fast approaching, and we’ve got a few events to put in your diaries – tickets not available quite yet, but we’ll make sure they are on Facebook and in this bulletin when they are ready to go.

  • Saturday 9th December, Melrose play Highland at Home & it is Sponsors Day

  • Saturday 9th December after the Highland match, all our ‘Concession Members’ (😉 over 65’s) are invited for an afternoon tea in the Ned Haig bar after the game! There will be music & cake!

  • Tuesday 26th December – Melrose v Gala – Boxing Day Derby @ The Greenyards KO: 3pm, the bars will be open, we’ll be serving stovies after the game along with a bit of entertainment too!

  • Saturday 27th January – Melrose v Dundee – Farmers Day (provisional date)

If anything changes, we’ll let you know via this bulletin and on social media.

6 Nations HOME tickets

A number of people haven’t paid Scottish Rugby for their 6 Nations HOME tickets, if you don’t want your tickets, please go onto the website and reject them. We have a number of people who were unlucky in the ballot and would love to go. To pay for your tickets, go to Home- eTickets (eticketing.co.uk) and log in and pay for your tickets. Your tickets will be received on the app between 2 weeks & a couple of days before the match. If you have any problems, just get in touch and we’ll see what we can do to help. You must pay for your tickets before Tuesday 28th November. If you don’t your tickets will be reclaimed by Scottish Rugby. If you need help to pay for them, please let me know and I should be able to help!

Some Goodbyes this week

We said ‘Goodbye’ to a number of players this week, Connor Grindal is heading home to Canada after a slightly frustrating time for him due to injury. Hopefully he’ll be back playing for the Toronto Arrows soon. The Southern Knights had their awards dinner on Saturday night, their last game of the season against Heriots was a bit of a heartbreaker – it ended with Heriots equalizing on the whistle with a full-time score of 21 : 21.

It feels awfully quiet during the day at the club without the Knights boys using the gym or working. We wish them all the very best and hope to see them again! Click here to read the Match Report for Southern Knights v Heriots

And finally…

We got an email from ‘Clifton Rats’ this week, they were a top veteran team back ‘in the day’, and they’ve published a book about all their touring adventures. The money is going to charity & MyName’5 Doddie is one they have named. So, if you’re looking for a stocking filler for a Rugby Fan (apparently more suited to those over 40) here’s the link! Clifton Rats Book

Have a great week & look forwards to seeing a busy stand on Saturday!

Best wishes

Hilary
