Melrose Rugby Bulletin 22/1/26

Afternoon to you –
Well it was back to winning ways on Friday night – a stressful game (for the spectators anyway!) but great to get the win! The final score was 22 – 19. Congratulations to 'Eclectic Coffee Man of the Match', Sam Derrick on a great game. It’s always interesting to see who the Offside Line names to their Dream Team of the Week, this week, we got one player on the list – Big Congratulations to Jack Dobie! MATCH REPORT

Eclectic Coffee’s Man of the Match, Sam Derrick receiving coffee & a bottle of fizz from Mike Williams

On Saturday the Storm headed to Gala to take on the Reivers due to their home game against Peebles being cancelled, great that Gala were able to arrange a team so late in the week, the Storm came away victorious, winning 35 – 14.  The U18’s game at Duns was unfortunately cancelled due to a frozen pitch, the U16s headed to Dunbar and came home with the win, the U13s against Peebles was also cancelled & the U14s & U15’s against Royal High fell foul of the cold too. If you noticed rugby on the Greenyards on Saturday, that was Earlston playing Livingston – Congratulations to them for getting the win!!
We’ve got a full schedule of games on this weekend, see below for details!

As well as the 1XV taking on Watsonians this weekend, our U16 Wasps, welcome George Watsons to the Greenyards on Saturday morning in our only match at the club this weekend. The 3rd XV are lacing up their boots again on Saturday and heading over to Earlston to take on their 2nd XV at 2pm. We're playing a huge variety of teams this weekend - from Dunbar to Selkirk, Edinburgh to Earlston & Kelso too!

Scotland Club XV call ups announced...

There was some exciting news published yesterday - the Scotland Club XV to play Ireland on Friday 13th February has been announced! Huge CONGRATULATIONS to Angus Runciman, Finn Douglas & Jack Dobie (big week for Dobie!) and also to Assistant Coach Scott Wight! Exciting stuff & good to see the International Club games being revived! We'll keep you posted if we hear of plans for this to be televised.

Feature on Melrose Rugby

If you were watching Friday nights footage of the Melrose v Selkirk game on TV you might have seen the feature on the club. There were some great interviews with Doug, Moff and Finn Douglas too - if you've got a few minutes, have a watch, it's a really great piece!
