WEEKLY BULLETIN

22.2.2024

Hello all,

Hope everyone is having a good week!

We finally seem to have a bit of Rugby going on, it’s been fairly quiet for the Storm & 1XV recently! The Storm took on Selkirk last Friday night and came home with a 14 – 22 loss. Mixed results for the Wasps, the U18s lost to Gala & the U16s had a 36 – 10 win over Hawick.

This weekend we have the following teams in action:

Selkirk v Melrose 1XV   – AWAY – Friday 23rd : KO 7:30pm

Melrose Storm v Hawick Force – HOME – Friday 23rd : KO 7:30pm

U16 Wasps v George Watsons – HOME - Saturday 24th : Current KO 12pm but this may change.

The U15 & S2s are heading to Peebles on Saturday morning – an early start for them – 10:30am & 10:15am respectively. The S1s will be welcoming Howe of Fife to the Greenyards – if you’d like to come and watch the ‘future of the club’, they kick off at 10:30am.

The South…

The Inter-district competition is back, and we’re delighted to announce that we’ve had 3 club players selected. Donald Crawford, Doug Crawford & Struan Hutchison. There have also been some former Knights picked for the team: among them Andrew Mitchell, Calum Renwick, Connor Sutherland, Terry Logan, Dalton Redpath, Fraser Renwick, Clark Skeldon, Grant Shiells & James Bett with Robbie Chalmers being picked for Edinburgh - Big Congratulations to all of them!

The club has recently welcomed some new blood! We’re delighted that Doug Crawford has taken up the post of Southern Knights General Manager. It’s great to have him on board!

Melrose 7s…

Only 50 Days to go until the 7s!  If you haven’t got your tickets, now’s the time! No need to look at the long-term weather forecast – it’s bound to be sunny😉!

In other ticket news we have a few individual stand tickets left for the 7s – if you are interested,  please email Abi on rugby@melroserugby.org . If you have any questions at all about the 7s, feel free to drop Abi line and look out for news on our upcoming 7s info event (DETAILS COMING NEXT WEEK).

Fancy having your name up in lights? We’ve got a great initiative for you if you’d like to support the club at the 7s – why not sponsor a tie? Your name will be announced before the tie and will also appear on the jumbo screen – it will cost you just £100 – interested? Email Abi at rugby@melroserugby.org

That’s it for this week – if you’re going to the Calcutta Cup – have a great time!

Until next time –

Warm wishes

Hilary
