Melrose Rugby Bulletin - 20/11/25

Happy Thursday Folks,
What a glorious but icy day it is at the Greenyards! Hope everyone is having a good week! The boys are in for a few more days of chilly training & playing conditions. We’ve got Peebles Reds here on Friday night taking on the Storm. The bar will be open from 7pm & kick off is at 7:30pm – it will be great for them to finally get a game after a few cancellations these last weeks. I’m sure they’d appreciate all your support, so wrap up warm and come and enjoy a Friday night under the lights!

Saturday sees the 1XV head up to Goldenacre to take on Heriots, please note this is an early kick-off at 2pm.

It's a big day for the U16 Wasps on Sunday as they are at home to the Dumfries Saints in the semi-final of the National Youth Cup, lets fill that stand and make some noise for them! The winner heads to Murrayfield for the final!! Kick-off is at 2pm.

The U18 Wasps head to Stirling County on Saturday morning for their semi-final in the Shield and that’s it for the week! The rest of the youth section of the club, have a bye weekend after taking on Peebles last week

Last Week's Youth Results

U13s v Peebles : Draw
U14s v Peebles : Won by a score
U15s v Peebles : Big win!
U16s v Peebles : 31-29 loss

Melrose 1XV v Watsonians

The 1XV headed to Watsonians, a slightly different look team with lots of boys stepping up from the Storm due to Donalds wedding! Although they didn’t get the win, the played well, especially in the first half – to read Iain’s match report click on the button below.

Upcoming Home Games

Next Saturday – the 29th will be our first home game for a while. It’s going to be a BIG day at the club as we welcome almost 90 Argentinians from Jockey Club de Cordoba to the Greenyards. The Storm will take on Jockey Club at 1pm, before the 1XV take on GHA at 3pm.

🏉Player Supporters 🏉

If you have generously supported one of our senior players this year, you should have been invited, by your player, to join us on Saturday the 29th at 12pm in Ned Haig for a light bite pre the Storm game against Jockey Club de Cordoba! If you haven't heard from 'your player' please consider this your formal invite!! If you could RSVP to me, that would be much appreciated!

🎄Christmas Lunch🎄

Our next big day is the December 13th when we celebrate the season with our annual Christmas Lunch, we'd love you to join us, so get booked in today to avoid disappointment! The 13th is also the day we welcome Kelso to the Greenyards. We have a double header scheduled with the Storm taking on the Sharks at 1pm, and it’s a 3pm kick off for the 1XV.

We have a dress code at the club that day....Christmas Jumpers please! A prize from me for the most over the top jumper on the day!!

Members Meeting for 7s Planning- Wednesday 26th November - Club Rooms

Just a quick reminder that there is a 7s meeting next Wednesday 26th November from 7 - 8pm. This will be a chance to hear more about how planning is progressing for Melrose Sevens 2026, meet the Sevens Steering Group, and find out how members and volunteers can get involved as we build towards the event.
Your input, ideas and support are a huge part of what makes the Sevens so special - we’d love to see as many of you there as possible!

Well I think that's it for this week, we look forward to seeing everyone down at the club over these next couple of weeks!

Warm wishes on a chilly day,

Hilary
