Melrose Rugby Bulletin - 30/10/25

Afternoon Folks,
A good day of rugby up at Hawick on Saturday, although if like me you were checking the score on Borders Rugby’s Instagram you were likely pretty worried at half time! The scores were reversed and they had us trailing Hawick! So, I was VERY surprised and delighted at the final score of 22 – 43. A great win for the boys! Three of our players made it into The Offside Line Dream Team of the week – Big congratulations to Goose, Declan Mulcahy & Scott Clark! Honourable mentions to Adam Arkley & Will Ferrie.

The Storm headed across the Border to Tynedale on Saturday, their first opportunity to travel in style with their sponsor, Austin Travel – unfortunately they didn’t get the win, but a good day out none the less!! The Storm game that was scheduled against Gala this Friday night, has unfortunately been cancelled. So their next game will be next Friday night against Jed. Any updates will be posted online & socials

The U18’s game against Carlisle Colts was cancelled late in the day, disappointing for them. The U15s, U14s & U13s all won their games against Gala. .
Most of our junior teams are off to Fife this weekend to play Bell Baxter at Howe of Fife, with the U18s taking on West of Scotland and the U16s are home to Ayr on Sunday here at the Greenyards:

Melrose Sevens Dates

Six Nations

Just a reminder that your Six Nations HOME tickets need to be paid for by tomorrow - if you don't want them, please decline them instead of paying and I can reallocate if anyone is looking. If you do nothing, they will disappear from your account and revert to Scottish Rugby.

UPDATE:

We've just had 2 tickets returned for both the France & England games - they are Category 1 and cost £168 each - please get in touch today or by tomorrow at noon if you're interested.

We should know about our AWAY ticket allocation early next week. so to all those who applied, I'll be in touch as soon as I have information.

Player News:

We mentioned last week that Zen Szwagrzak had headed off to join the Poland team for the weekend - a great result for him as they took the win against Lithuania!

Our South boys have started training for their game against Edinburgh next Friday night. Doug Crawford, Roly Brett, Finn Douglas, Oli Anderson, Goose (Captain) Sam Derrick, Jack Dobie & Ollie Furness are all in the Squad. Kick off is at 7:30pm at Mansfield Park. It's sure to be a competitive game and entertaining watch! To view a video about the South, it's history & future and perhaps spot a few familiar faces click on the button below!

And in final rugby news, the U13s welcomed a touring team from Warwick School yesterday. It wasn't to be for Melrose, but they had a great time on the pitch & in the club rooms. It's become a nice tradition with Warwick, this being their fourth visit. Thanks to the coaches for organising everything, & Ally for feeding them all, much appreciated!

Well I think that's all the news for today - if you are going to the Scotland v USA game at Murrayfield, we've got over 100 members of our youth section along with their families heading to Murrayfield on Saturday, what a great day out for them.
